Fabulously Pink

A couple of weeks ago I was while I was shooting a few episodes of a show I host called Movieola Shorts, I was chatting with our lovely makeup artist Natalie about "runway pink" lips. After seeing so many models wearing the hottest pink lips, I wanted to try and achieve the look. Nothing we had was quite "runway" enough that day, so I made it my goal to find the best hot pink colour. Finally this week while I was killing some time perusing the MAC store, I found the Magenta Madness pigment- the absolute perfect hot pink. While I'll admit, it took a couple of attempts to get the application of the powder just right (for a few minutes it looked like I had eaten a hot pink jelly doughnut) it was worth the time and effort! I'm officially obsessed with my runway pink lips!

You can check out Movieola Shorts this Saturday at 7pm on CHCH (Channel 11- Toronto, Hamilton, Niagara)

Flower Power

I'm probably the furthest thing from a hippie, never mind the fact that I was born more than 20 years post the beginning of the hippie era, I don't have any major character traits that could be defined as hippie-ish. That being said, when I put on this outfit I felt like a modern hippie. My skirt flowed in the wind, my necklace was telling each and every person that passed by how much it loved them and my platform Mary-Jane's have wildflowers plastered all over them... that alone screams hippie! Regardless if I really look like a hippie or just a city girl in ridiculously high heels, I love this outfit-- and it made me utter a Cher-ism... "You try driving in platforms"... let me tell you, no easy task.

Never Say Never

To bare or not to bare, that is the question.

Last weekend a friend of mine picked up a cropped shirt in a store and asked, "how on earth would wear this". Good Question. I told her, a cropped shirt is only acceptable with a high waisted skirt of a pair of high waisted trouser pants. For years I have lived by only one strict fashion rule to never show my stomach in public (unless of course on a beach). I never thought after adamantly telling my friend last weekend that it is never, and will never be acceptable for your stomach to hang out of your clothing, that 7 days later I would not only be showing my stomach, but blogging about the fact that my abdomen is not completely covered. But, here I am. And I am going to go ahead and say it in honour of International Women's Day, baring my midriff was sort of liberating. I guess Justin Bieber got this one right, never say never!

What do you think? Will you be showing off your stomach this spring?

Bring It On Spring, I'm Ready For You

Today was one of those deceiving days. It's March, the sun was shining and it looked like it was going to be warm out. Unfortunately, like we learn as small children, looks can be deceiving, and I for one should just know better seeing as my full-time job revolves around weather. Anyways, it's cold out, there is snow on the ground and all I want is to put my parka away, put on some sandals and get a tan. I have never been more ready for spring in my life. It is sort of cruel how stores put all their spring and summer wardrobe in their stores when the day time highs are still below zero degrees, it teases us and causes near frostbite situations... at least for me. So today, I decided to hell with my heavy winter clothes and opted for a sheer blouse and my newest spring jacket from Zara, it was all fine and dandy until I stepped outside. I almost froze, my lovely pumps were quickly replaced by boots and I added a scarf and another jacket on top. Soon enough spring will be here and the layers will be gone, I cannot wait!

(A big thank you to my brother's lovely girlfriend Jen for my new Coach purse! I'm a little obsessed with it!)

The 83rd Academy Awards Best Dressed

The 83rd Academy Awards were last night and I am back on the blog after a fairly lengthy hiatus! For movie and fashion lovers alike, the Oscar's is the biggest television event of the year.  I've been looking forward to it was weeks and the red carpet definitely didn't disappoint.  Here is my list of this year's best dressed ladies:

Hilary Swank in Gucci Couture.  Hilary was stunning last night-- This is one woman who always holds herself with such grace on the red carpet and last night was no exception. She was just so lovely and so was her dress. She kept her hair and jewellery simple and let her jeweled, feather ombre dress take the spotlight.

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab. I absolutely loved this dress, the colour, the cut, the lace. It was simple, yet elegant-- she may not have been nominated for an oscar, but without question Mila is nominated for my best dressed list.
Gwenyth Paltrow in Calvin Klein. This dress is stunning, it is just so simple and beautiful, if only the same could be said for Gwen's performance of her Oscar nominated song Coming Home... I was unimpressed, especially after her fantastic performance at the Grammy's.

Celine Dion in Armani Prive. A little shoutout to Canada's favourite songstress, it's hard to believe Celine gave birth to twin boys just four months ago. She looked fantastic in this curve hugging Armani Prive dress.

Natalie Portman in Rodarte. All eyes were on Natalie last night from her best actress win to this beautiful dress. Natalie made some questionable fashion choices throughout awards season, so I was happy to see her in Rodarte, the same house that dressed her for Black Swan.

Melissa Leo in Marc Bouwer. I am giving an honourable mention to Best Supporting Actress winner Melissa Leo. I've heard so many negative reactions to her dress, but I have to say I thought she looked amazing. The lace overlay was delecate, which complimented the strong cut of the dress. She was age appropriate and still on trend.

Best Dressed: 17th Annual SAG Awards

My vote for last night's best dressed award at the 17th Annual SAG Awards goes to Eva Longoria. She kept it simple in this Georges Hobeika gown, pairing it with a pair of Neil Lane drop earrings and a sparkling clutch. She look absolutely stunning.
Honourable mention goes to Glee's Heather Morris who has been hitting the red carpet this season in gorgeous blush tone dresses. Last night she wore a chiffon Romona Kaveza and she sparkled in Lorena Sarbu at the Golden Globes earlier this month.

New York State of Mind

Working on a weekend leads to a lot of day dreaming and tonight I am dreaming of being in New York City. With New York Fashion Week just two weeks away now would be the perfect time to make a trip down there. Since NYC fashion week isn't going to happen for me this time around, I thought I'd reminisce and share some photos from my last trip to New York! Enjoy!

Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!!
